When I had joined my current workplace, I was introduced to the, then current work happening around. With that little know-how, I was given a small task to perform, in a given time. After the task was completed to a very minimal extent, and not in whole, my then senior had called upon some more people, and discussed the way, others and I, should be carrying out our work. Based upon my perception of what I had understood out of her guidance, I had immediately made notes of it, at Google Notebook. Today, I felt like revisiting them, and letting it go open, on this blog of mine. Below are the points I had noted, which I should remember through out the course of my work, to do the same, in a systematic manner.
1. Whenever you're given a task to perform, try to study and examine it, as to what purpose it solves!
2. After identifying the purpose, we need to look as to how can we adapt the same to any other existing situation.
3. Once, we've got the stuff, we need to classify them into categories or classes, and then probably, group the same.
4. An essential part is to identify the sample set, which could be used for further examination. This might involve studying some sort of patterns, looking at classes etc.
5. Once, some pattern is identified, try to match it with 'something' related. It might save our efforts.
6. Next, we need to examine it. The process of examination might initially be manual, but then, we need to automate the process, because the test bed might initially and will probably be small, but as time and complexity grows, the manual process might be pain-staking, hence, we automate it for future reference.
7. Also, we need to keep in mind that to support whatever we say/do or even think, we should be able to quantify it in terms of numbers, in order to support our stand, we do need proofs.
